welding 410 stainless steel - Miller Welding Discussion

I'm fabricating a stainless air diffuser out of 410 stainless steel ,1/4 th plate mainly with some thicker end details to be added later .I was just wondering what would be the best filler material to use ???? I will be TIG welding this assembly together .I've welded plenty of stainless in my time ,but mainly 304can 304 and 316 stainless be welded togather??Feb 27,2006 Welding SS 304 to SS 316#0183;I tig weld many different stainless alloys together and I can't tell the difference.I welded 316 to 304,316 to 17-4ph,304 to 17-4ph.I didn't notice any reduction in corrosion resistance,in practical use.For things that I use in seawater,I usually clean up the weld with a deburring wheel followed by polishing the part.MaxWhy You Shouldnt Weld Carbon and Stainless Steel Wire Austenitic stainless steels such as grade 304 stainless or grade 316 stainless can be welded to plain carbon steel using MIG and TIG welding. When welding stainless steel to a dissimilar metal such as plain carbon steel, weld processes such as MIG welding that use filler material are preferred.
